If I see a domain name that someone else already has, but it expires soon, how long do I have to wait before I can snag it.
And does it matter if the current holder doesn't care, or just forgot to renew it?
It can take about 30 days for the registrar to actually drop the name. The give the current owner a bunch of chances to renew.
Then, if the name is decent, and even if it does drop, the name is likely to be snapped up by a domain drop service. And auctioned off to the highest bidder.
