TLD is an acryonym for TOP LEVEL Domain.

The TLD is the rightmost part of a domain after the last "dot".

It is best illustrated with examples:

  • www.AskAboutDomains.com <-- COM is the TLD.

  • www.Verruca.mx <-- MX is the TLD. In this case, MX is also a ccTLD.

  • www.HotTo.uk.com <-- COM is the TLD.
