I have a domain registered with one Registrar. How do I transfer it to another (cheaper) registrar. Also, how much lead time is required?

As for how long it takes? Usually about a week. But, keep your eye on your email box. You'll get all kinds of notifications from the new and old registrars. Many of them require your response. If you don't respond, you'll have to start over.
