How many 5, 6, and 7 letter English words are there? I'd like to know how many domains I have to choose from that are actually words.

At this stage of the game, I don't think there are any short, real-word, domain names left that aren't already registered.

You'll just have to watch one you want and pounce on it when and if it expires.

If you are willing to venture out and grab some other random letters, you can search for name with something like domaintools they have a "domain search" tab, and if you use the "advanced" link you can do length based searches and / or pattern searches, etc.

If you have good content, it probably does not matter if your domain name is a real word or not.

What about alternate TLD's like .NET, .DE, and MX? – Jorge Jan 29 at 17:14

I googled around and couldn't find any statistics on this :(

I have read that English has about 1,000,000,000 words. Although the most of I've found in and online dictionary is about 111,000 words. I think most scientific terms and names (etc) are probably not in those dictionaries.
